About Clean Earth Technology
Clean Earth Technology, Inc. is an OEM manufacturing firm incorporated by engineers who previously worked at a nearby aerospace firm and were familiar with NASA spacecraft fuel gauging technology. The interface sensors used in Clean Earth Technology's equipment are a unique spin-off of this technology, setting it in a league of its own in the environmental industry. Since then, our systems have been hard at work, successfully restoring thousands of underground aquifers all over the world.

Clean Earth Technology Awarded Small Business Innovator of the Year
In 1990 David Bowles and his team of engineers and technicians began development of a system that could be used to recover ground water contamination - developed primarily in response to the regulations promulgated in the 1980's to clean up leaking underground storage tanks. The "Spill Buster" system was developed in 1991 and is marketed by their sister company Clean Earth Technology, Inc.

Clean Earth Technology Certifications, Awards
The EPA has included Clean Earth Technology, Inc. in its Innovative Technology Inventory, winner of the 2001 Vermont Small Business Innovator of the Year, Vermont Department of Economic Development's press release of this Award we are proud to have won in November of 2001.

EPA Includes Clean Earth Technology, Inc. in its Innovative Technology Inventory
Unlike other remediation technologies, the Magnum Spill BusterT removes only the waste petroleum product, and will not pump water. This eliminates the need for costly and complicated separation of the oil and water after pumping. This also permits the pumped oil to be easily recycled if desired. In addition, the Spill Buster's automatic operation uses less electricity than a 100 watt light bulb. The system can also be configured for operation via solar-charged batteries.

Hazardous Environmental Safety Review
The Magnum Spill Buster system was designed for use under this "Hazardous Environment" classification as defined by the National Electric Code. Most of the components in the Magnum Spill Buster system, including the probe sensors, pump motor, auto-seeker motor, product tank probe and electrical cables are designed to be "intrinsically safe". The only component of the system that is not intrinsically safe is the control panel, which is specified to be located in a non-hazardous location. However, the control panel can be mounted within a certified "explosion proof" enclosure if required by the application.

Magnum Spill Buster
The Magnum Spill BusterT is an automated free phase petroleum contamination pumping system. It is specifically designed to remove NAPL petroleum product from the water table via a 2" or larger diameter well. Its unique auto-seeking device allows the pump intake to automatically follow the elevation of the oil/water interface as it fluctuates throughout the entire length of the well. The Magnum Spill Buster will not pump any amount of water.

Magnum Spill Buster and Spill Buddy / Spill Buddy Pro FAQ's
The Magnum Spill Buster is a semi-permanently installed, automatic system used for the long term remediation of free phase products. The Spill Buddy and Spill Buddy Pro are portable, manually operated NAPL skimming devices. They are best suited for pumping the available product from a monitoring or recovery well that is visited for that purpose on a regular schedule.

Magnum Spill Buster, Site Evaluation Guide
Of course we think that our systems are the best at what they do of all the available groundwater remediation technologies out there. Even so, we realize that no one technology is going to always be the best solution for every kind of site condition. Here's what we use to evaluate whether or not we can wholeheartedly recommend the Magnum Spill Buster for a particular application.

Magnum Spill Buster, What sets it apart?
Normal maintenance of the Magnum Spill Buster requires approximately ¼ hour of one person's time two to four times per month (depending on your site conditions). The auto seeker raises the probe and pump to the well surface, neatly winding the down-well tubing as it goes. The pump is easily removed from the probe, its filter and screen wiped clean, as well as the probe tube. Then the pump is re-seated in the probe and the auto seeker returns the pump to the product/water interface.

Spill Buddy
The Spill Buddy is a compact, manual, free product skimming system, designed to operate on site to skim quantities of product (LNAPL or DNAPL). The Spill Buddy's operation is based on the state-of-the-art ALPHA-ARRAYT sensors in the probe that detect the interface between the product and the water. An audible feedback signals the user to keep the pump positioned in the product layer, and allows product skimming with virtually no water pumped (dependent on operator's reaction time in turning off the pump after hearing the audible signal for water).

Spill Buddy Pro
The Spill Buddy Pro combines an interface meter with the Spill Buddy's free product skimming capability. The integrated measuring tape and audible feedback allow the user to determine the distance to the product surface, the depth of the product, and then to pump the accumulated product. It averages about 0.5 gallons of product per minute (approximately 35 gallons in an hour of continuous pumping).
